Sanchita Karma: Types of Karma in Vedic Astrology

Sanchita Karma in Hinduism

Sanchita karma in Vedic Astrology is the total consolidation of karma a soul carries from all previous births, every good and bad action together in the subtle body.

Moreover, the word Sanchita literally means “collection”, indicating a vast karmic action that the soul carries across lifetimes. The part allotted for the present life is Prarabdha.

As long as this stock of Sanchita remains, life selects new Prarabdha, and the cycle of birth and death continues. Therefore, serious seekers must understand Sanchita karma.

This understanding helps them see beyond one lifetime and grasp how destiny forms at a deeper level.

Moving towards Liberation or Moksha

Dharmasangat action or good deeds purify Kriyaman karma and stop it from becoming new, binding Sanchita karma. Hence, it creates a good Prarabdha karma.

Therefore, such individuals often enjoy a healthier life, more privileges and deeper happiness. Consequently, when no significant Sanchita remains, these souls attain moksha.

Moreover, in their almost‑last birth, these individual souls may appear as a President or Prime Minister. Or an extremely rich, powerful or influential person, or a great guru. A courageous warrior, or even in the form of an old tree or a loyal pet.

Basically, the degree of good Sanchita karma decides the quality of life for an individual.

In Jyotish, the kundli and divisional charts show where old tendencies or debts are active now. The present, conscious Kriyaman karma decides whether those patterns become suffering or steps toward liberation.
